Effective June 1, 2008, AMIT’s existing members and Southern Arizona operations will consolidate with the Arizona Technology Council establishing, for the first time ever, a regional office in Tucson located at the University of Arizona’s Science and Technology Park. By combining AMIT’s established operations in Tucson with the Council’s strength in Phoenix, this merger will bring an immediate and dramatic increase in the value of membership to all of Tucson’s and Southern Arizona’s technology related firms. Having a staffed Tucson office that is committed to the success of our region's business interests is essential to the Arizona Technology Council’s ability to operate effectively as the state-wide trade association for high-technology firms in Tucson and throughout the state. Our new combined organization will have greatly expanded resources to assist members to grow their business, save money and provide a greater reach into government agencies and industry influencers around the globe.
Joining the newly expanded Council gains you access to the leaders, partners, customers, funding, ideas, and support that are critical to your company’s success. Your membership and participation will make a difference for Arizona and your business.
This decision came at the end of a lengthy strategic planning process conducted by the AMIT Executive Committee. An essential factor in this decision was the Council’s decision to hire Steven G. Zylstra as president and CEO. While Mr. Zylstra has deep roots in Arizona, he most recently developed his strong national reputation as one of the most effective leaders in the country after having grown the Pittsburgh Technology Council into the nation’s largest and most respected organization.
